Well, after our first night, we were up fairly early on day two. He seems to be eating pretty well. When you first bring a puppy home, you are advised to keep feeding them the same food the breeder is using; the breeder should also give you a supply of food so that you can buy a supply before you run out.
The breeder had told me which food they were using when I viewed the puppy’s a second time (I’d already reserved Hodi, I just didn’t want to wait to bring him home before seeing him again) and had sent me a picture of the bag:
Not having much experience with puppies, I’ve been trying to go by the weight on the bag and he seems to be eating a little less than the recommended, but not by much and that is probably just being introduced to a new environment.
Other than feeding and drinking, we’ve been doing some playing with the collection of toys I’ve bought him
The toy is a Petface Planet Carlos the Crocodile Eco Friendly Plush Dog Toy which has gone down well with him, but has an unmentioned squeaker, which I’d rather have avoided.
The toy is hollow, with a slot for putting an empty plastic bottle so there is a crunch, but Hodi is a bit small for that, so I’ll be leaving it empty.
The main thing he has been doing, is sleeping, which puppies will do for 20+ hours a day.
On both of the first two days, he has either slept on top of me or by my side and in constant contact with me.
